Monster Energy DrinkWhen it comes to world leaders in the energy drink business, Monster has to be in the top 3. They have taken the same marketing approach as Red Bull and taken advantage of the extreme market. Monster sponsors racers in the annual point to point off-road endurance races, among other sporting events. Continuing to compare to RedBull (as that seems to be one of my favorite things to do) you notice first that Monster has a huge "Monster" 473ml can. Hmm, I wonder if that's where the name came from? The taste is like biting into an off-tasting apple.. or something. These energy drinks always have some bubbly taste that aren't quite comprehensible by my pallette. The can being nearly twice as large as a RedBull, also contains double the Taurine (whatever that is). It also contains Ginseng, which isn't found in all energy drinks and I have heard from people that this is a wonder herb. In my many travels into British Columbia you can see it growing under black cover on the valley sides. Its a huge cash crop in the herbal market. Oh, and it also contains double the caffeine of .. you guessed it.. Red Bull. I really like the taste, albeit its a little sugary and sweet. I stopped drinking Monster awhile back due to the fizz, even though I did in fact like the taste. Like similar energy drinks that are carbonated it really does a number on my stomach since you pretty much drink the whole thing pretty quick. So as long as you like carbonation, you shouldn't have a problem.
